American Veterans Traveling Tribute Wall Coming to Tucson’s Casino Del Sol Resort

WHAT: Veterans and active members of America’s armed services travel great distances and make great sacrifices to preserve and protect freedom and liberty, how far will you travel to honor their contribution?

Casino Del Sol Resort is proud to host the American Veterans Traveling Tribute (AVTT) Traveling Wall Nov. 5 to Nov. 8. The AVTT Traveling Wall is an 80 percent scale replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. Across its 360-foot length, the wall contains every single name etched on the original. At its apex the memorial is an impressive eight feet tall.

Media are invited to cover any of the events during the course of the AVTT Traveling Wall’s time in Tucson.

On Wednesday, Nov. 4 at 3 p.m., the AVTT Traveling Wall will arrive in Tucson and an escort of 200 motorcycles will guide the wall from Freightliner of Arizona to its destination at Casino Del Sol Resort. The wall will then be open to the public for viewing from Nov. 5 to Nov. 7 from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Nov. 8 from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Viewing the exhibit is free each day.

A dedication ceremony will be held on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 10 a.m. The ceremony will include a massing of colors, 21 gun salute, bag pipers, dignitary speakers including Congressman Raul Grijalva, the Sacred Connection drum group and KGUN’s Guy Atchley as event host. There will be an additional memorial wall in the Casino Del Sol Resort lobby open to the public after the dedication. Visitors will be able to sign the wall and leave memoriams to military personnel which will be displayed until after Veteran’s Day.

The mission of the AVTT Traveling Wall project is to travel the nation to honor, respect, and remember men and women who served in the armed forces, and to pay specific tribute to those who gave everything during that service. Since the tribute is mobile it allows people to honor and respect veterans and active military personnel without having to travel great distances. Don’t miss this opportunity to honor and remember our fallen heroes.
